Why Train In Muay Thai?

womens-classesMuay Thai training is an outstandingly effective workout system for flaming calories and developing a shapely, well toned and younger looking body – not to mention keeping fit and feeling energised. There is little doubt that Muay Thai is an excellent and highly enjoyable way to improve aerobic and anaerobic fitness by working all the muscle groups and, thereby, help create attractive body shape and muscle tone.Additionally, Muay Thai exercises and fitness training deliver a practical and potentially life-saving benefits.

 

Whilst you are getting all the cardiovascular benefits, you will also learn techniques that will build your confidence and improve your ability to avoid - and deal with - physical confrontations. Unlike some martial arts that have evolved into 'safe' low-contact sports, Muay Thai training is an explosive, high impact training system – even if you do not engage in actual ring combat. For this reason, it is ideally suited towards female (and indeed, male) self protection. Although there are numerous techniques that can be learnt, the core Muay Thai moves are simple and when combined appropriately, become devastatingly effective at all ranges – which is essential for practical and reliable self protection.

 

Our classes are taught by a fully qualified  senior instructor in a safe and friendly environment.

 

At the Master Sken Academy (MSA) you will train in a non-threatening (friendly) environment. You can choose between training in our 'ladies only' classes which are very popular or in our open classes where you can mix it up with the guys. We are here to guide you and give you all the help and support you need. Our members enjoy belonging to MSA because of our distinctly family atmosphere. We believe that besides serious training, we are also a place where people interact socially and have fun! At MSA, long lasting friendships are formed and many members have been with us for well over a decade. Indeed, one has been with us for 33 years!

 

If you are not sure about our mixed classes, you can always try our private 'one to one' or 'group classes'. These are designed to help you on your way, progressing gradually at your own pace. We take pride in our offering of customized training packages that meet your personal needs. To us, you will always be a valued and very much unique individual – and never just 'a number'.

Are there any limitations?

 

Strength, size, age, background and fitness level are all factors that can pose barrier – but only to the extent you allow them to hold you back. True champions see 'weaknesses' as challenges to grow and as opportunities to transform themselves into what they truly can be. Get your priorities right. Your objective should not necessarily to become an invincible fighting machine. Always seek to improve your fitness and improve your ability to defend yourself - whilst enjoying the experience of training in a fun and friendly atmosphere!

 

 

Class times:'Ladies can start in the ladies only class at 6 pm every Tuesday night or beginners classes held Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday 7 pm. If you would like private or group tuition, call us and book a convenient time for you.

Gym Membership

Our Lydney gym is a full time Muay Thai training camp. Our facilities are equipped for your training needs. We have the equipment to condition and develop speed, stamina and strength. We have hanging bags, wave masters, speed ball and lightweights plus a full size boxing ring.
